Scar Therapy

Scar massage therapy (also known as Scar Work) is a technique that has been developed to improve the appearance and mobility of scars. It uses massage techniques which improve blood circulation and stimulate collagen remodelling, which smooths the scar and surrounding skin.
The technique also aids in breaking down adhesions, which are bands of fibrous scar tissue that form between tissues, often after surgery, injury, or inflammation. These abnormal connections can occur when tissues that are normally separate stick together. By reducing fibrosis, the therapy leads to more flexible and less noticeable scars.
The therapy offers a non-invasive method to improve both the aesthetics and functionality of the skin, is suitable for both new and older scars and can be performed as soon as eight weeks post-surgery.
Our Lead Therapist, Adele Oddy, trained with Harley Street-based Restore Therapies – one of only two approved centres in the UK licensed to teach these specialised techniques.

What ScarWork™ Patient’s report (extract from Restore Therapy Website) says:

Still amazed by how such a gentle technique can make such a huge difference! The tightness and discomfort I had been feeling for many months across my abdominal scar following Diep flap surgery, was suddenly eased after visiting the clinic for a few sessions.
Dealing with the scar tissue after surgery can be both physically and emotionally confronting. Where I had adhesions and restricted movement, the treatment has significantly alleviated discomfort and improved mobility. The scar itself is now barely visible.
An operation on my feet left me with little balance on my right foot due to the scars and reset my big toe so it didn’t touch the ground. The results of ScarWork™ have been extraordinary; after nearly 50 years this foot is flat and I have better balance in life all round.
